Charity car wash drives support for two good causes
People impacted by brain injury in the Black Country and firefighters and their families will benefit from vital support thanks to a Charity car wash at Brierley Hill Fire Station on Saturday 6th September 2025.
The event, organised by The Fire Fighters Charity and Headway Black Country, was a fantastic success, raising nearly £1,000 to be shared equally between the two causes.
The day brought together fire crews from Brierley Hill and Dudley Fire Stations, along with Headway volunteers led by Chief Officer Jayne Emery, who all rolled up their sleeves to help wash cars and raise funds.

Chief Officer Jayne Emery said:
“We are so grateful to everyone who supported the Charity Car Wash. The money raised will directly support people living with brain injury in our local community, helping them rebuild their confidence, independence, and everyday life skills. Partnering with the Fire Fighters Charity made the event even more special, and we are proud of what we achieved together.”

Funds raised for Headway Black Country will go towards vital services that help people impacted by brain injury develop life skills, regain independence, and live fuller lives. For the Fire Fighters Charity, the money will support serving and retired firefighters, and their families, with life-changing physical, mental, and social support.

Kieran Pugh, Coordinator for Life Skills at Headway, who also volunteered on the day, added:
“Taking part in the charity car wash was such a rewarding and uplifting experience. The atmosphere was buzzing with energy, laughter, and a real sense of community.
It was amazing to see so many people come out to support us from families and friends to passers-by who just wanted to contribute to a good cause. It was a brilliant day that brought people together for something truly meaningful.
The funds we raised will make a huge difference in supporting our wonderful service users at Headway Black Country, and the event will have no doubt raised our profile so that more people in the Black Country are aware of our support and services.
From my role within the organisation, the generous support of all of those that came and contributed will allow us to run as high quality a service as possible and provide our service users with the sessions and materials they need to make the best and most enjoyable recovery that they can.”
The Charity car wash showed the real impact of community working together and partnership, proving just how much can be achieved when people unite for a good cause.
